10Day TV & Videogame Free CHALLENGE
Letter to Community Organizations
Re: Your participation/help with the young people of our
community
Dear Madam,
Dear Sir,
Well over three thousand studies have proven that repeated exposure to TV
violence is clearly linked to the rise in youth violence and aggressivity.
As a result, we acknowledge the need to help our young people develop
critical viewing skills toward what they witness on TV and help them reduce to
exposure to media. The "10Day CHALLENGE" was developed in direct
response to this need. It provides to our community a unique opportunity: During
ten days, young people are encouraged to turn off their TVs, computers, and
video games, replacing them with alternative activities involving family, friends,
and community.
In no way an obligation for the children, the project is truly a challenge. Its
success lies both in its promotion and in the involvement of all branches of
our community relating to children: parents, relatives, friends, neighbours, local
organizations, commerce, etc.
We turn to you for that purpose. We need your creativity and interest in our
young people. You could help the Challenge in many ways.
- organize an activity during the 10Day Challenge;
- promote the Challenge by making it known;
- familiarize children with your organization;
- share your ideas with us,
- give us a hand with funding.
If you feel that our young people are worth the effort, please contact us.
We await your response with great pleasure.
